ABOUT JODY

Jody’s passion is helping people realize their individual gifts and ultimately accept themselves fully. She works in a broad range of areas including depression, anxiety, relationships, mindfulness, women’s issues, adolescent issues, trauma and grief.  Her areas of specialty and expertise are eating disorders, adolescent issues, binge eating, anxiety, coping with chronic illness and parenting skills. Jody is trained in EMDR and uses it for a variety of issues.

Jody Radoff is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Houston and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. Jody completed a LEAH (Leadership Education in Adolescent Health) fellowship with Baylor College of Medicine, which focused on clinical care as well as research, public health policy and advocacy. Jody has a strong commitment to continuing her education and regularly attends workshops and keeps abreast of latest evidence based treatment modalities through books and professional journals.  She is a member of the International Academy of Eating Disorders, Houston Eating Disorders Specialists and EMDRIA.

Jody has helped clients of all ages with food and body image issues, chronic and terminal illness, parenting concerns and issues with personal development and happiness.  Jody began her counseling career working with patients needing organ transplants and patients in hospice.  She then transitioned to working with adolescents, families, couples and individuals.  Jody has a unique understanding of the depths of suffering brought on by hopelessness and helplessness as well as the ability to gain insight and acceptance and ultimately peace within.

Jody’s key skills as a therapist are her warmth, empathy and ability to listen.  She utilizes a broad range of treatment modalities including cognitive-behavioral therapy, strategic family systems therapy, client-centered therapy, mindfulness and EMDR.

Working with a therapist as a partner in a safe and affirming environment, a client can come to realize their potential whether they are suffering from severe mental illness or adjusting to changes in life.  A client deserves to be heard and accepted without judgment in their quest for happiness and a better quality of life.
